The Early Disbursement For Study Abroad Students experiment- permits Polk State College to disburse Direct Loan funds for some students enrolled in an approved study abroad programs as early as 30 days prior to the first day of classes of the student’s enrollment for the loan period.

  1. England Stonehenge - October 2020

    Stonehenge Ruins

    Students will work with David Jacques, archaeologist, at the Blick Mead dig site. The Blick Mead research project was recently named Currently Archeology’s Research Project of the Year. Students will tour Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, and London.

    Students will tour Vienna, Salzburg, and Prague. They will visit the Schonbrunn Palace, Mozart Audio and Video Museum. Students will also attend classical musical performances and take part in group performances.

  4. Hospitality Management - Bahamas Cruise April 23–27, 2020

    Cruise ship in the Bahamas

    April 23 – 27, 2020

    Cruising is the most complete tourism and hospitality experience as it includes transportation, accommodation, attractions, food and beverage, entertainment, casino gambling, and destination visits.  On this cruise, students will make two resort site visits in the Bahamas to locations such as Atlantis or Baha Mar Resorts.  Students will also take behind the scene tours of the various cruise departments to learn the operations of each of those areas.  Also, included each evening is a group business etiquette dinner for the students to learn about proper protocol for dining etiquette

    Students will travel to San Jose, Guanacaste, Arenal, and Monteverde. Students will visit Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Rio Fortuna Waterfall, Baldi Hot Springs, Arenal Volcano National Park, Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, and an Eco Coffee Plantation.

    Experience and explore the process of creative travel writing in one of the most modern and exotic cities in the world. You’ll get plenty of time in the capital to experience what makes Japanese culture unique before entering timeless Shinto shrines in the parks of Shibuya. Look up at the towering screens in the Ginza district or peer down from cable car at Mt. Komagatake – either way, Japan will give you a distinctly new perspective.

  7. Norway and Denmark – Norse Mythology May 29– June 8, 2020

    Viking ships

    May 29– June 8, 2020

    Students will tour Viking sites in Norway and Denmark to learn more about Norse mythology. While touring, students will visit locations such as Oslo, Bergen, Copenhagen, Roskilde, and Slagelse. In these locations, they will take a fjord cruise, participate in a guided mountain hike, and tour Viking museums.

    Big Ben in London

    Students will tour London and visit locations such as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Students will tour museums such as the National Gallery Museum, Tate Modern Museum, and the British Museum. Also, included in the program is a day trip to Oxford.
