Past Programs
Guadeloupe- November 2017
- Students gained experience in Science by partnering with the University of Antilles in Guadeloupe. Both colleges have collaborated in an ongoing water quality sampling experiment. Students were able to snorkel, tour the historical and cultural aspects of the island and also hiked the Volcano.
England – October 2017
- Students gained experience in humanities and worked with archaeologist David Jacques in Amesbury, England at the Blick Mead dig site. Students toured Stonehenge, Salisbury, Old Sarum, the British Museum and the Tower of London.
France – June 2017
- Students gained experience in Aerospace while attending the largest air show, the Paris Air Show.
Scotland – June 2017
- Students gained experience in Photography and Art while visiting a variety of castles in Scotland. While touring they visited Edinburgh Castle, Aberdeen, Blair Castle, Glamis Castle, Dunnottar Castle, Balmoral Castle, Braemer Castle, Cawdor Castle, Dunvegan Castle, Loch Ness, Glencoe, Eilean Donan Castle, Stirling Castle and Inveraray Castle.
Canada – May 2017
- Students attended two dramas and two musicals at the Stratford Festival. While attending the festival, students took a backstage and costume warehouse tour. Students also took a city tour of Toronto.
France – May 2017
- Students toured Marseille and Paris to discover the historical and cultural aspects of these two cities. While touring they visited Notre Dame de la Garde, les Calanques, les Isles du Frioul, Aix-En-Provence, Notre Dame, Louvre, and River Seine Cruise.
England – October 2016
- Students with interests in Archaeology and World Mythology, visited Stonehenge, Salisbury, Old Sarum, the British Museum and the Tower of London.
Ireland – June 2016
- Students with interests in English and Photography, visited Dublin, Sligo, Ballyshannon, Derry and Bundoran.
Spain – May 2016
- Students with interests in Spanish culture, visited Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Costa Del Sol, Seville and Madrid.
Greece/Italy – May 2016
- Students visited Rome, Sorrento, Athens, Delphi, and Piraeus.
France – May 2016
- Students visited Marseille, Arles, Aix en Provence and Paris in France.
- Students studied Art and Humanities while visiting a variety of museums and had first hand experience with public transportation.
Brazil – April 2016
- Students presented to the G100, and organization of CEOs, and met with other business leaders to explore international business opportunities and potential Brazil-Polk County collaborations.
Panama – March 2016
- Students from the Healthcare Administration and Nursing programs visited Health Centers in Chitre and Panama City, Panama.
- Students for Business programs visited Panama Canal, and the City of Knowledge in Panama City. Panama.
England/Wales/Ireland – October 2015
- Students assisted former Polk State Fulbright Scholar and archaeologist, David Jacques, at the cradle of Stonehenge dig site in Amesbury, England. Students also toured Holyhead, Wales, and Dublin, Ireland.
Andros Island, Bahamas – July 2015
- Science students were able to have hands on experience at the International Field Station and art students were able to create many pieces of landscape art while viewing the island.
Paris, France and Amsterdam, Holland – May 2015
- Students completed extensive tours of these two cities while visiting many museums.
Marseille and Paris, France – May 2015
- Polk State students interested in Humanities returned to Marseille and Paris where they were able to compare and contrast these two cities.
Merida, Mexico – November 2014
- Students participated in local internships while residing with home stay families.
Amesbury and London, England – October 2014
- Students assisted former Polk State Fulbright Scholar and archeologist, David Jacques, at The Cradle of Stonehenge dig site to uncover Mesolithic artifacts.
Oxford and London, England – August 2014
- Golden Key International Honor Society presented at the Conference on Knowledge, Culture and Change in Organizations at Oxford University.
Italy/France – June/July 2014
- Students with interests in Humanities, visited Rome, Florence and Paris.
Ireland – June 2014
- Students with interests in Irish literature and theatre, visited Dublin, Sligo, Ballyshannon, Derry and Bundoran to learn more about Irish authors and playwrights.
Peru – June 2014
- Students with interests in Spanish and Global Business, visited Lima and Cuzco taking in sites such as Machu Picchu.
Hungary/Poland/Czech Republic – May 2014
- Students visited Prague, Budapest and Krakow to study the arts, history and culture of these locations.
Amesbury and London, England – March 2014
- Students assisted former Polk State Fulbright Scholar and archeologist, David Jacques, at The Cradle of Stonehenge dig site to uncover Mesolithic artifacts.
Strasbourg, France – November 2013
- Scholarobotics Academy attended the RAMSES Symposium in Strasburg where they presented their research in an effort to advance the field of robotic microsurgery.
Cape Town, Africa – September 2013
- Golden Key International Honor Society participated in a Golden Key conference which was held in Cape Town, South Africa. Students are excited to report that they still have contact with the international friends they made there.
Andros Island, Bahamas – June 2013
- Students with interests in Environmental Science and Introduction to Marine Biology traveled to Andros Island to participate in a two week study of the unique ecosystem which is found there.
Marseille and Paris, France – May 2013
- Polk State students returned to the second largest city in France with Polytechnic Marseille where they learned the importance of navigating through a foreign country and interacting with locals.

- Students went on their first international trip to Marseille where they experienced new foods, culture, and architecture, as well as develop friendships with local Polytechnic students.
