Polk State Haines City-Davenport Campus

Latest News: Polk State College secures $10 million for Haines City-Davenport Campus

Architect: Straughn Trout Architects (Lakeland, FL) and PBK Architects (Houston, TX)

Construction Manager: AD Morgan Corporation (Tampa, FL) and DuCon (Tampa, FL)

Project Manager: Carla Harvey, CJAE Group (Tampa, FL)

Estimated Budget: $51 million

Sources of Funding: $13.8 million in PECO funds (2022 Legislative Session)

$3 million donation from Barney Barnett and the Barnett family (April 2023)

$18.1 million in PECO funds ($8.1 million for 2024 Legislative Session; $10 million for 2025 Legislative Session)

Planning and Design Phase in process; schematic design underway

Construction Phase I began Spring 2024

  • 75,000-square-foot facility with an emphasis on workforce development training in the area of Health Sciences
  • Collaborative spaces for hands-on interdisciplinary simulated training

Completion Date: Estimated Fall 2026

Winter Haven Science Building (WSC)

Latest News: Polk State to begin renovations to the Winter Haven Science Building

Architect: The Lunz Group (Lakeland, FL)

Construction Manager: Barton Malow (Orlando, FL) and NuJak Companies (Lakeland, FL)

Estimated Budget: $16.7 million

Sources of Funding: $16.7 million in PECO Funds (2022 Legislative Session)

Project bidding phase completed

First construction phase (second floor) underway, beginning with interior demolition was completed Dec. 1

Faculty and staff have begun returning to their second-floor spaces; classrooms and labs will be available for the start of classes on Jan. 7

The second construction phase (first floor) will begin during winter break, immediately after Fall 2025 Semester

  • Interior renovations including science labs, nursing labs, classrooms, and offices
  • Exterior renovations may include roofing repair/replacement, brick repairs, and window replacement

Completion Date: May 2026

Lakeland Academic Center (LAC)


Latest News: Polk State to begin interior construction on LAC over winter break

Architect: Furr, Wegman & Banks Architects (Lakeland, FL)

Construction Manager: Creative Contractors (Clearwater, FL)

Estimated Budget: $12.2 million

Sources of Funding: $12.2 million in PECO Funds ($6.1 million each for 2023 and 2025 legislative sessions)

  • Phase I, which included a new roof, brick repairs, painting, and exterior LED lighting, has been completed.
  • Phase II begins over winter break 2025 with interior renovations and the start of the new bookstore.

Completion Date: End of 2026

Winter Haven Fine Arts Building (WFA)

Latest News: Polk State celebrates completion of Winter Haven Fine Arts Building renovations with ribbon cutting

Architect: Rowe Architects (Tampa, FL)

Construction Manager: AD Morgan Corporation (Tampa, FL) and DuCon (Tampa, FL)

Estimated Budget: $16.4 million

Sources of Funding:

  • $16.2 million in PECO Funds (2021 Legislative Session)
  • $172,000 Central Florida Tourism & Sports Marketing Grant

Construction Phase I (exterior) complete

  • Brick replacement and roof replacement

Construction Phase II (interior) complete

  • Renovations for of classroom, office, and performance spaces for theater, visual arts, music
  • Updating all building systems including ventilation, plumbing, electrical, IT, etc.
  • Phase II interior renovations are completed

Completion Date: End of 2024
