Greetings, Future Eagle!
Thank you for your interest in the Polk State College Aerospace Program.
My aviation journey began when I was only 13, and I have loved aviation all of my life. Over the years I’ve found that I still love aviation. It has never been tedious, boring, uneventful, or a regret. The aerospace field is incredibly broad. From management to piloting, from maintenance to air traffic control, and everything in between, you have chosen a field with huge growth potential and excitement that no other industry can offer.
Our Professional Pilot program offers full FAA certification as a commercial pilot with multi-engine and instrument flight ratings. You can also pursue optional flight instructor certification. If flying airplanes isn’t really your speed, our Aerospace Administration program will prepare you for a host of jobs in the business side of the aerospace industry. Further, our Aviation Maintenance Administration program will give you the skills you need to be elevate your career in the world of maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and aircraft components. When you complete this program, you will be fully prepared to enter the aviation workforce as an aviation professional. Also, and most importantly, you will be thoroughly prepared to operate safely in the National Aerospace System, regardless of whether you are sitting in the cockpit or managing the operations outside of it. Successfully meeting these two objectives – preparedness to enter the workforce and a solid safety mindset – are your graduation requirements.
I am a hands-on program director. You will meet with me often during your training here. I will be teaching some of your classes. We might even fly together a few times. I am here to help you gain the skills, experience, and the mindset you need to be successful in the aerospace industry. I look forward to working with you.
