Polk State collegiate high schools to host info nights

Posted on by Polk Newsroom

Polk State College’s three collegiate high schools will host information nights this semester for students interested in attending in 2020-2021.

The charter high schools serve juniors and seniors and allow students to fulfill high school requirements while also earning college credits. In most cases, students graduate with both their high school diplomas and Polk State associate degrees at no cost to them.

Info nights will allow prospective students to learn about the application process, tour the campuses, meet with students, faculty, and staff, and receive tips on preparing for the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT).

Polk State’s three charter high schools continue to succeed. Polk State Lakeland Collegiate and Polk State Chain of Lakes Collegiate high schools achieved A grades for the fifth consecutive year in 2018-2019. Additionally, they are designated Schools of Excellence by the State Board of Education and both rank No.1 out of 448 public high schools in Florida for four-year graduation rates, graduating 100 percent of seniors on time for six consecutive years.

Polk State Lakeland Gateway to College Collegiate High School, which receives a school improvement rating instead of a school grade due to differences in its mission, received for the third year in a row a “commendable” school improvement rating. In August, the school received a national Program Excellence Award from Achieving the Dream, Inc. for exceeding all four benchmarks used to assess the performance of Gateway to College programs: first-term success, fall-to-fall persistence, two-year persistence, and three-year graduation rate.
