Teacher Recertification

The purpose of the Florida Educator Certification Program is to support the academic achievement of students by ensuring that educators are professionally qualified to provide highly effective instruction. Certified educators include classroom teachers, school administrators, and other support professionals such as guidance counselors and media specialists.

Polk State College offers a variety of courses classroom teachers can take for teacher certification renewal. Interested individuals can refer to the links on the right side of the page for topics regarding certification renewal, as well as courses that are eligible for a state teacher waiver.

Polk State College has streamlined the registration process for teacher recertification  and teachers are exempt from providing the following during application for enrollment to PSC:

  1. High school or college transcripts
  2. Postsecondary Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.)
  3. New student orientation

Please note:  It is the responsibility of each individual to confirm that courses will satisfy current certification requirements from the employing school district or Florida Bureau of Educator Certification.

See recertification courses and registration information on the “Related Info” section on the right-hand side of this page.
