Polk State’s collegiate high schools invite students, parents to info sessions

Posted on by Polk Newsroom

Polk State College’s three collegiate high schools have joined efforts to recruit and admit students for the 2023-2024 Academic Year, starting with the opening of a single application for Polk State Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School, Polk State Lakeland Collegiate High School, and Polk State Lakeland Gateway to College Collegiate High School.

Previously, students who were interested in a collegiate program would complete an application specific to that high school. Often, students would complete applications to multiple or all collegiate high schools. To streamline the process, the principals have consolidated the applications into one general submission.

The application will remain open through 11:59 p.m. on March 1, 2023. Interested students can access the application online at www.polk.edu/charter-high-schools.

Polk State’s collegiate high schools are also holding info session for students and parents:

  • Thursday, January 12, at 6:30 p.m. on the Lakeland Campus in LTB 1100
  • Tuesday, January 31, at 6:30 p.m. on the Lakeland Campus in LTB 1100
  • Thursday, February 9, at 6:30 p.m. on the Winter Haven Campus in WST 126
  • Thursday, February 16, at 6:30 p.m. on the Lakeland Campus in LTB 1100

Polk State’s collegiate high schools allow students to simultaneously complete requirements for their high school diplomas while earning college credits. In most cases, students graduate with both their high school diplomas and Associate in Arts degrees at no cost to them.

Of the 2022 graduating classes, 58% of students achieved their associate degrees and approximately $3.4 million was earned in scholarships. Graduates continue their education at Polk State, State University System institutions, and Ivy League schools.

For the 2021-2022 Academic Year, Polk State Lakeland Collegiate High School and Polk State Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School received A grades, and Polk State Lakeland Gateway to College Collegiate High School achieved a Commendable school improvement rating, which it receives in place of a school grade due to differences in its mission and charter. Commendable is the highest rating.
