  • Applications open: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
  • Applications close: Thursday, October 1, 2026
  • Acceptance deadline: Thursday, October 15, 2026
  • Mandatory Orientation: Monday, November 30, 2026, at 2 p.m.
  • Cohort begins the week of January 6, 2027

Program Prerequisites:

  • Current State of Florida EMT Certification
  • Current Polk State College student in good standing
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Provider certification
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Completed all college preparatory courses in reading and writing, as well as MAT0012 (Arithmetic with Pre-Algebra), if necessary
  • Successful completion of: BSC1084C, or BSC2085C and BSC2086C

Current grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 or higher*Please note that prerequisites to a program and courses that can be taken prior to admission to a program can change; students not yet admitted may be required to take additional or alternate prerequisites prior to admission to the program. 

Advanced Placement Policy: The Polk State College Paramedic Program does not offer advanced placement into the Paramedic curriculum. Students are not permitted to bypass, challenge or receive advanced standing for required Paramedic program courses based on prior EMS education, certification, licensure, employment, experiential learning or completion of coursework at another EMS education program. All students admitted to the Paramedic Program must enter at the established entry point and successfully complete the prescribed Paramedic course sequence and all associated didactic, laboratory, clinical, field, capstone and competency requirements.
