What is a Form 1098-T?
Polk State College is required to file a Form 1098-T Tuition Statement with the Internal Revenue Service for Polk State students who made payments for qualified tuition and related expenses during the calendar year. The Form 1098-T is used to compute eligibility for education-related tax credits
BOX 1 will include total payments made during the calendar year for Qualified Tuition & Related Expenses. Payment made for tuition will include most tuition-related charges on the student account except for the following Non-Qualified Expenses:
- Obligations
- Access Fees
- Health Fees
- Testing Fees
- Book Purchases
- Parking Fees
BOX 5 will include the total amount of scholarships or grants received during the calendar year for the cost of attendance. Scholarships and grants generally include all payments received from third parties (excluding family members and loan proceeds).
