Polk State Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director Merrybeth Etherton has nearly 20 years of experience working in area clinics and hospitals.

She earned her Associate in Science degree in Radiography from Polk State College in 1990. She then went on to work as a radiography technologist at Bond Clinic in Winter Haven for five years before pursuing a specialization certificate in diagnostic medical sonography from Hillsborough Community College.

After graduating from the sonography program at HCC, she worked at Winter Haven Hospital and Gessler Clinic before joining Polk State as clinical coordinator of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

In 2011, she was named program director, and in 2012 she graduated from Polk State with her Bachelor of Applied Science degree.
