Polk’s PTU Gets Attention from Automation.com

The opening of Polk State College’s Advanced Technology Center — and specifically the $1 million piece of training equipment it houses — has garnered attention from Automation.com, an online magazine for the automation industry.

In an article dated Feb. 3, 2014, Automation.com highlights the College’s Process Training Unit, which automation industry leaders Endress+Hauser, Rockwell Automation and TriNova donated to the College.

The PTU, a massive piece of equipment that involves tanks, valves and pipes, is exactly the same kind of equipment that students will use when they go to work in plants that process liquids, be it orange juice or wastewater.

In addition to the PTU, the Polk State Clear Springs Advanced Technology Center, which opened in January, houses the Polk State Corporate College, which provides workforce training for a variety of industries, as well as a handful of high-tech degree programs.

The Polk State Clear Springs Advanced Technology Center is located at 310 Technology Drive in Bartow.

Automation.com is the only publication of its kind for the automation industry, receiving more than 600,000 site visits from around the globe each month.
