Polk State College will host the first annual Countywide College Career Fair on Friday, Sept. 28, organized by a Polk Vision/Central Florida Development Council Talent Pipeline Team subcommittee in partnership with Polk County’s colleges and universities.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Lakeland Campus at 3425 Winter Lake Road. Current college students and alumni of postsecondary institutions in Polk County are invited to participate. Attendees are encouraged to dress in business attire, bring copies of their resumes, and be prepared for on-site interviews.

The Talent Pipeline Team subcommittee is organizing the event to connect local businesses to talent, and to introduce Polk County college students to internship and employment opportunities.

The event will include participants from Florida Polytechnic University, Florida Southern College, Keiser University, Saint Leo University, Southeastern University, Warner University, Webber International University, Webster University, Ridge Technical College, Traviss Technical College, and Polk State College.

“Polk State is proud to host this event, which will benefit our students and the community by fostering connections between the quality talent our higher education institutions create and local businesses poised to employ our graduates,” said Naomi Boyer, Polk State’s Vice President of Special Projects, Strategic Priorities, & Growth, and Chair of the Talent Pipeline Team.

More than 30 employers have registered to participate in the event, including BayCare Health System, CenterState Bank, City of Lakeland, City of Winter Haven, Lakeland Regional Health, LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Polk County Board of County Commissioners, Polk County Public Schools, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and Publix Super Markets.

“By creating connections between students and local employers, the Talent Pipeline Team is working toward its goal to retain local talent in Polk County after graduation, which will contribute to the positive growth of our community,” said Pauline Simmonds-Brown, Polk Vision’s Education and Talent Alignment Coordinator.
