Polk State to hold two commencement ceremonies for spring graduations

Posted on by Polk Newsroom

For the first time in its history, Polk State College will host two commencement ceremonies to cap off the Spring 2020 Semester.

Due to the growing number of graduates participating in spring ceremonies, the College has made this change to comfortably accommodate families and guests. The College will continue to host a single commencement ceremony in the fall semesters.

On May 7, the College will host two commencement ceremonies at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. The first ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. for graduates of the College’s Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS), Bachelor of Science (BS) including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Applied Science (AAS), Applied Technology Diploma (ATD), and certificate programs. The second ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. for graduates of Polk State’s Associate in Arts (AA) degree program.

More information about applying for graduation, commencement ceremonies, and tickets is available online at polk.edu/graduation. The ceremonies are free, ticketed events. Students who apply for graduation via PASSPORT by March 27 and mark on their applications that they plan to participate in a commencement ceremony will have the opportunity to redeem up to six tickets each between April 6 and May 3. On May 4, tickets that have not been redeemed by the deadline will be made available on a first-come, first-serve basis to the general public, including graduates who applied late, changed their participation status after the deadline, and who want additional tickets.

The College thanks graduates and their guests for their cooperation.
