Polk State Open House Events are April 7, 14

Polk State College will host two Open House events for prospective students.

The first event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, at Polk State Winter Haven, room WST 126, 999 Ave. H N.E.

The second event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at Polk State Lakeland, room LTB 1100, 3425 Winter Lake Road.

At the events, attendees will complete applications to the College, learn about academic programs, meet faculty members, meet with representatives from Student Financial Services, receive help in completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), learn about student clubs and activities, and tour the campus.

The Winter Haven event will also include a 30-minute session for prospective students’ parents. The session will be presented in Spanish and Creole and will cover basic information about college.

A three-credit-hour scholarship will be given away during each event.

Polk State College, an open-access institution, was established in 1964, and serves more than 24,000 students annually. Its offerings include the Associate in Arts, which is parallel and fully transferrable to the State University System, and the Associate in Science, which is designed to lead directly to the workforce, a growing number of bachelor’s degrees tied to local employer demand, and a variety of continuing education and certificate programs.
