Polk State Lakeland Career Development Services Fall Events Include Sessions on Scholarships, Social Media

Polk State Lakeland’s Career Development Services has numerous events planned for the fall semester, all intended to help students get ready for the professional world.
“Each workshop and event is designed to empower our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to maximize their potential and develop as successful professionals,” said Pairris Jones, coordinator of career development services at the Lakeland campus.
The scheduled events include:
Career Services Open House
 Aug. 26
 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

 Students will learn about how Career Development Services can help with internships, resume-writing, interview tips and more.
College Fair
 Sept. 10
 9 a.m. to noon
 LTB Lobby
 Colleges and universities will be on site to help students plan their next steps.
Scholarship Session
 Sept. 23
 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

 Students will learn how they can get money for their education.
Professional Workshop
 Oct. 15
 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

 Students will learn about resumes, cover letters and the art of the elevator pitch.
Professional Social Media Tips
 Nov. 17

 Students will learn about how to post…without regret.
Celebrate Student Success
 Dec. 3

 Students will wrap up a semester of hard work and accomplishments, and be entered to win a $100 gift card.
Polk State College has Career Development Services offices on both the Lakeland and Winter Haven campuses. Career Development Services helps students select and prepare for their careers.
