Polk State Lake Wales Hosting Musician Ken Apperson for Afternoon Concert on Jan. 7

Polk State Lake Wales will host an afternoon concert featuring guitarist and vocalist

Ken Apperson at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 at the Polk State JD Alexander Center, 152 E. Central Ave.

The concert is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by the College’s SALO (Student Activities and Leadership Office).

According to Apperson’s Facebook page, facebook.com/kenappersonmusic, he takes influences from popular artists such as John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson. Apperson moved from St. Louis to Tampa in 2009. Since then, he has performed at venues across Florida, and in 2011, he released a solo album titled “Puzzle Pieces.”

Apperson’s concert is part of the Polk State Lake Wales Arts Center’s Downtown Concert Series and Arts Incubator Series, both of which have brought a wide variety of musicians, actors and visual artists to the area.
