Posted on by Polk Newsroom

Polk State’s JD Alexander Center kicks off its first-ever Campus Read event — picture a really big book club — at noon on Wednesday in room JDA 202.

All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in Campus Read.

The first Campus Read book selection is The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins. Participants will read and discuss the novel together.

Campus Read meetings will also take place at noon on Sept. 25, Oct. 23 and Nov. 20. English Professor Mackenzie Jennings will facilitate all meetings.

The first 70 participants to arrive at JDA 202 will receive a free copy of the book. Refreshments will also be served.

Students who participate in all Campus Read meetings will receive a free ticket to the premier of the movie version of Catching Fire at the Regal Eagle Ridge Mall 12 theatre on Nov. 21.

In Lake Wales, Polk State operates the JD Alexander Center at 152 E. Central Ave., and the Polk State College Lake Wales Arts Center at 1099 State Road 60 East.
