Polk State College Lake Wales Arts Center Begins Offering Classes Jan. 7

Posted on by Polk Newsroom

Polk State College will begin offering its first classes at the Polk State College Lake Wales Arts Center on Jan. 7.

In late 2011, the College and the Lake Wales Arts Council announced an innovative collaboration that involved the College accepting title to the Lake Wales Arts Center. In exchange for the building, which has been renamed the Polk State College Lake Wales Arts Center, the College agreed to renovate and maintain the facility.

Those renovations, meant to enhance the building’s structural integrity and functionality without visually altering the historic character, began over the summer. Now, the building’s classrooms and gallery are ready to receive students. Work to repair the domed roof of the building’s sanctuary continues and is expected to be finished in March.

The first Polk State College Lake Wales Arts Center classes include:

Students currently enrolled at the College may register for classes offered at the Polk State College Lake Wales Arts Center online through the College’s Passport. Prospective new students should first submit an online application to the College at polk.edu. After doing so, they will be scheduled for an orientation session, during which they will register for their first classes.

The College’s online Steps to Admission guide provides students with information such as how to apply for financial aid, how to request transcripts, and when to schedule placement testing.

The College’s online course catalog will help students in choosing and planning a course of study.

In addition to the Polk State College Lake Wales Arts Center, Polk State offers classes in downtown Lake Wales at the Polk State JD Alexander Center, as well as at campuses and centers in Lakeland and Winter Haven.
