Dr. Lynn Wilson is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 40 years of experience in accounting. Additionally, he holds a doctorate in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. Wilson has worked in public accounting as a CPA, manufacturing as a CFO and the nonprofit sector as a CFO. He has taught accounting and business courses at the college level for over 35 years. As such, he brings both real-world acumen as well as an extensive academic experience to the classroom environment.

Professional and Academic Background

Wilson holds a CPA certificate from the State of Florida and was named an Endowed Teaching Chair recipient at Polk State College for excellence in teaching. In addition, he was conferred the Alumni Association Award for outstanding service to students at Polk State, and he was named an honorary member of Phi Theta Kappa for outstanding service to the College. Wilson is a former president of Polk State’s Faculty Senate.

Leadership and Public Service

Wilson has served the community as a member of several civic organizations and boards; including Rotary International, Sertoma, Polk Vision, Polk County Value Adjustment Board, Polk County Scholarship Fund, Polk County School Board’s Sales Tax Oversight Committee and the Polk State College Foundation Board. Additionally, Wilson served eight years as an elected member of the Polk County School Board where he served two terms as board chair. Wilson brings an extensive mix of educational, professional and civic accomplishments to the classroom where he strives to bring a practical application approach to his accounting and business classes.

Education

Wilson earned a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) with a concentration in accounting from Indiana Wesleyan University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida Southern College and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Central Florida.
