Textbooks now available for dual-enrolled homeschoolers

Dual-enrolled homeschoolers are now eligible to receive the required textbooks for their Polk State College courses at no cost to them thanks to changes in Florida Statutes.

Eligible students should follow the process outlined below to obtain their required textbooks and course materials from the Polk State bookstores on the Winter Haven and Lakeland campuses.

  1. Textbooks and materials must be obtained from the Polk State bookstore on the campus the student is taking classes.
  2. Students may obtain textbooks and materials during the Financial Aid bookstore purchase dates at least one business day after the day they enroll in classes.
    Financial Aid bookstore purchase dates as specified on the College’s academic calendar are available online at polk.edu/academics/academic-calendars.
  3. Students must bring a printed copy of their course schedule, photo identification, and a valid email address to the bookstore to receive textbooks and materials.
    Students should monitor the email address they provide for important communication from the bookstore regarding return dates.
  4. Textbooks and materials must be returned to the bookstore by the specified return date. Students who fail to return course materials will have financial holds placed on their accounts, will have their registration canceled for the upcoming term, and will be barred from further registration until financial holds are lifted.

The Polk State bookstores are currently operating during summer hours Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The bookstores will have extended hours starting Monday, Aug. 6, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the first week of the fall semester, from Aug. 20 to Aug 25, the bookstores will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Regular store hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
