Posted on by Polk Newsroom

Polk State College will host health fairs at each of its campuses in January for students, faculty, staff, and members of the community to start 2019 off right with free health screenings, activities, and more.

The health fairs will take place Friday, Jan. 18, on the Lakeland Campus in LTB 1100 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 23, on the Winter Haven Campus in the Winter Haven Health Center Gym from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The College’s full-time employees will have the opportunity to participate in free biometric screenings that check their cholesterol and blood glucose from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Lakeland Campus and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Winter Haven Campus on the days of the health fairs. Employees are encouraged to schedule their health screenings at pickatime.com/PolkStateCollegeHealthFairSched. All employees, students, and community members can have their blood pressure checked at no cost to them during the health fairs.

Attendees will also enjoy a series of exercise lessons on both campuses led by faculty and staff including circuit training, chair exercises, tap dancing, line dancing, and a Tiger’s World workout.

A free, healthy lunch will be provided to students and employees, and all guests will have the opportunity to visit booths of numerous vendors. For more information, contact Professor of Health and Wellness Laurel Smith at laurelsmith@polk.edu or 863.297.1067.
