Posted on by Polk Newsroom

To ensure the continued safety of Polk State College faculty, staff and students, the College will be testing its emergency alert system, Everbridge, on Friday, June 27 at 9 a.m.

Everbridge is available to each of Florida’s public colleges and universities at no cost to the institutions. During the test, an emergency message will be sent to the following communication outlets:

  • Everbridge mobile app (text and audio)
  • Polk.edu email addresses (text)
  • My.polk.edu email addresses (text)
  • College Facebook and X accounts (text)
  • Mobile phone numbers that have been entered into the Polk Portal (text and audio)
  • Desktop computers
  • Digital signage

To maximize safety, students and employees will be encouraged to download the Everbridge application onto their smartphones. The app is available for Apple and Android.

Students should download the app and search for “Polk State.” They should then select “Polk State College Alerts.” They will be asked to put in their Polk State username and password to complete the process. Faculty and staff will receive employee-specific instructions via their Polk State emails.

Polk State encourages each student and employee to log in to the Polk Portal and check that all contact information is current. To ensure that information is correct, staff and students will select the “Open General Dashboard” card, which will direct them to the “My Profile” page. Staff and students will then select the “Personal Information” option which will display their email addresses and phone numbers.

If information is incorrect, students can request that it be corrected by emailing the Registrar’s Office at registrar@polk.edu. Employees who need information corrected should email Human Resources at hr@polk.edu.
