Polk State Honored at Student Government Conference

Polk State College recently received several honors at the Florida College System Student Government Association Spring Conference Awards Ceremony, which took place April 6 in St. Petersburg.

The College’s Winter Haven campus won four district-level awards, including Outstanding Event for its Fall 2011 “Wild on SALO (Student Activities and Leadership Office)” Welcome Week; Humanitarian Award for Robert Black; Most Spirited Student award for Juan Martinez; and Advisor of the Year for Student Activities and Leadership Coordinator Carlos Parra.

On the state level, the Winter Haven campus received second place for Best Practices in Student Programming. Also, students Josh Austin and Casmore Shaw were honored for their participation on the state level with the FCSSGA.
