Polk State FallFest set for Oct. 10

For more than six decades, Polk State College has provided opportunities and exceptional higher education in Polk County. For nearly four decades now, FallFest has provided local families with a fun-filled Saturday.

This year’s event is scheduled for Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Winter Haven Campus. Founded in 1987, the event is free and open to the public.

“FallFest has been a cherished tradition at Polk State College, bringing the community together year after year,” said Nancy Lozell, Program Director for The Arts at Polk State. “With a wide variety of vendors, activities and entertainment, there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy.”

FallFest features more than 100 booths from local vendors, businesses and College clubs. Portions of sales from craft booths will benefit the Polk State College Foundation, which provides approximately $1.2 million in scholarships for Polk State students each year.

The event will also feature family-friendly activities such as games, a haunted house, shows and presentations from local law enforcement and EMS. Polk State clubs will participate in the event to raise money for their organizations by hosting different activities and food sales.

Headlining this year’s entertainment lineup will be Skinny McGee and the Handshakes. The event will also feature performances from the Polk State Music Department, Chain O’Lakes Big Band and others.

For $60, vendors will be assigned a booth on campus. Limited indoor vending spots are available for $70. For business vendors looking to promote their business, the cost is $100.

“FallFest is a fantastic opportunity for vendors and businesses alike to connect with the community, increase their visibility and showcase what they have to offer,” Lozell added. “It’s also a fun event for attendees to shop, explore and, most importantly, support Polk State students.”
