Polk State Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School students Mary Berdis and Maddison Wells have signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers.

Berdis will attend Baylor University on a gymnastics scholarship. She is a championship diver for Winter Haven High School.

Wells has accepted a basketball scholarship at Tulane University. She plays for Winter Haven High School.

“I am so pleased that Mary and Maddison chose to attend Polk State Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School,” said Bridget Fetter, Polk State Chain of Lakes principal.

“They both have worked extremely hard throughout high school and will continue to have the opportunity to participate in a sport that they love.”

Students who attend Polk State’s high schools may still compete in athletics and other extracurricular activities at the high schools they would have otherwise attended.

Polk State College operates three public charter high schools, including Polk State Chain of Lakes Collegiate in Winter Haven, Polk State Lakeland Gateway to College Collegiate, and Polk State Lakeland Collegiate. All three high schools allow students to fulfill requirements for their diplomas while also earning college credits.
