Polk State Winter Haven, WLR 126

Polk State’s first Safe Zone training will take place next Friday, Sept. 9, at the Winter Haven campus. There is still time to sign up to participate. Keep reading for more information.

First Year Experience, the Office of Equity and Diversity, and the Student Activities and Leadership Office is launching the Safe Zone program. The mission of the Safe Zone program is to educate students, as well as faculty and staff members, about the issues and policies affecting the LGBTIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and questioning/queer) communities at Polk State College.

The Safe Zone program aligns with the College’s core values of diversity, leadership, and integrity. During the Safe Zone training, participants will learn about basic terminology, theory, policies and support services, and take part in scenario-based exercises, to equip them to better assist those who identify as LGBTIQ.
