Polk State wins 14 Awards of Excellence from AFC Communications & Marketing Commission

Polk State College’s Office of Communications and Public Affairs received 14 Awards of Excellence from the Association of Florida Colleges Communications and Marketing Commission for 2023, including a complete sweep of the Video (More than 30 seconds; Less than 10,000 FTE) category.

The work of multimedia specialists Millie Lopez and Juan Santana stood out in this year’s competition across all 28 Florida colleges, earning Polk State:

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs (OCPA) also brought home:

  • Gold in the Newsletter category for the College’s enewsletter
  • Silver in the Annual Report category for the 2022 Report to Community
  • Silver in the Brochure/Guide category for the 2022 Facts & Figures
  • Silver in the Viewbook/Primary Recruit Piece category for the Viewbook
  • Silver in the Poster category for the Aerospace recruitment poster
  • Silver in the Website category for polkeagles.com
  • Bronze in the Article in a College-Produced or Third-Party Publication for the Florida Trend Education Guide
  • Bronze in the Direct Mail category for the Polk State Foundation’s A Night of Legacy invite
  • Bronze in the Print Advertisement in a Third-Party Publication for the Grow with Polk ad in HAVEN Magazine

“OCPA is comprised of dedicated, talented individuals spanning skillsets and areas of expertise who work collaboratively toward shared goals for our College,” Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs Tamara Sakagawa said. “I am proud of our team and thankful for the support of our colleagues who help us tell the Polk State College story.”
