Polk State Theatre Plans Scholarship Auditions

Posted on by Polk Newsroom

Students interested in studying with Polk State Theatre have two opportunities to audition for a scholarship.

The 2013 Theatre Scholarship Auditions will take place on May 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. and May 11 from noon to 3 p.m. Both auditions will take place in room WFA 117 at Polk State Winter Haven.

Students interested in auditioning should prepare a contemporary comedic or dramatic monologue and a classic monologue or sonnet. They also have the option of preparing 16 bars of a song; they should bring their own sheet music.

Technical theatre artists should bring portfolios highlighting their experience with costume or set design, lighting, sound, production, stage management or promotions.

Polk State Theatre has seen remarkable growth in recent years, adding faculty and performance space, and the department has taken on increasingly challenging performances, such as the recent staging of Shakespeare’s Richard III, the largest and most complex performance in the department’s history.

For more information or to make an appointment to audition, contact Polk State Theatre Director Paul Carbonell at pcarbonell@polk.edu or 863.292.3631.

In addition to Polk State Theatre, Polk State Fine Arts includes the College’s Music and Visual Arts departments, all of which enjoy outstanding statewide reputations.
