Polk State Launches New Website

Earlier today Polk State College significantly upgraded its web presence, with the re-launch of polk.edu, the official College website.

The new site was designed and developed in collaboration with local design firm Clark/Nikdel/Powell (CNP) and transforms the way the community can experience Polk State online. According to David Steele, who led the in-house effort, the concept was the result of extensive research on best practices in the business, news and higher education sectors, as well as “a ton of communication with our College stakeholders, such as students, prospective students, faculty and staff.”

The new site allows for a much more dynamic delivery of information, both in terms of the decentralization of routine content management tasks and the navigational experience for visitors to the site. According to Steele, “We’ve tried to create a relatively rich experience for our users, based on a comprehensive collection of valuable content and a robust set of connections within that data that allow us to deliver relevant information, such as people, news and event information, that is related to a visitor’s activities on the site.”

Steele offered high praise for the Polk team involved in the site launch and, in particular, for the Winter Haven-based firm that made the College’s vision a reality. “I cannot speak highly enough of CNP. They hit this project ‘out of the park’ for us, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with them every step of the way.”

CNP was selected as the service vendor after a nationwide RFP process. According to Steele, “It was a delightful coincidence that the best vendor in the mix also happened to be one that is right here in our community.”
