Polk State JD Alexander Center to host open house January 25 in Lake Wales

Polk State College invites prospective students, their families, and community members to an open house at the Polk State JD Alexander Center on January 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 152 E. Central Ave. in Lake Wales.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the Center’s new Director, Von McGriff, as well as faculty and staff. Tours of the campus, assistance with admission and registration, and information about programs, financial aid, and scholarships will be available. Light refreshments will also be provided.

The College opened the Center in 2009 to expand much-needed access to a Polk State education. In a County where 38% of residents are transportation disadvantaged and at a campus where 44% of students receive federal need-based financial aid, Polk State’s presence in Lake Wales is critical as the next nearest location is nearly 30 miles roundtrip.

The Center provides general education courses for the Associate in Arts degree for both college students and high schoolers who are dual enrolled. Advising and student support services are also available on-site. Serving nearly 1,000 students annually, the Polk State JD Alexander Center in the heart of downtown Lake Wales remains committed to providing the community with access to affordable, quality higher education.

Enrollment is taking place for 12-week classes that will start on February 5 and the second session of eight-week classes which will start on March 4.

Currently enrolled Polk State students can register for classes in Passport. Prospective students should submit a free online application to the College by clicking here.

Help with admission, advising, registration, and financial aid is available on campus and by email, webchat, and phone.
