Polk State invites community to Black History Month finale celebration

Polk State College continues to celebrate Black History Month with a calendar of curated events that seek to engage students, faculty, staff, and the community in culture, dialogue, and unity.

The College will conclude its 2023 events with its Black History Month Finale Tailgate Celebration on Tuesday, February 28, at noon on the Winter Haven Campus. The festivities will take place in front of the Winter Haven Health Center/Gym (WHC) with free food and entertainment, including a drumline performance.

Polk State’s Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion; Student Activities & Leadership Office (SALO); Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program; and Foundation have been instrumental in hosting the College’s Black History Month events, including the Black History Month Kick-off on the Lakeland Campus and Professor Derek Menchan’s Voices of the People: Black Magic.
