Polk State Hosting Mind, Body, Wealth Seminar

Polk State College will host Mind, Body, Wealth — A Health and Economic Seminar on May 3 at the Polk State Winter Haven Student Center, 999 Ave. H N.E.

Free lunch, breakfast, health screenings and credit checks will be available at the event.

The schedule for the event follows:

8 to 9 a.m. — Registration and continental breakfast
9 to 9:15 a.m. — Opening ceremony
9:15 a.m. — Presentation on voter rights, Polk County Supervisor of Elections Lori Edwards
9:30 to 10:30 a.m. — Wealth Panel, with speakers including Valerie Dollison of MidFlorida Credit Union, Iris Cooper, co-founder of Glory Foods, Jonathan Hunt, financial adviser with Northwestern Mutual, the Rev. Clifton Dollison, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church

The panel will be followed by breakout sessions, including:

10:30 to 11:30 a.m. — Mind Panel

Featured speakers are Dana Moore of Dana Moore Law, Ta’Nikia Ellington of the Peace River Center, Kathy Platt, licensed mental health counselor and clinical coordinator, Lt. Lori Phillips of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, the Rev Henry Babers, pastor at Parkview Christian Center

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Lunch & Learn

Keynote speaker will be Iris Cooper, entrepreneur and co-founder of Glory Foods Inc., who will present Just Ask Iris!

12:30 to 1:30 p.m — Body Panel

Featured speakers are LaLaine Knowles of Total Transformation Center, Evonne Cobbett, a health specialist representative with the Polk County Department of Health, Janet Kitchen, HIV advocate, and the Rev. Charisse Jones, minister with Hurst Chapel AME Church

The day continues with exhibitors and a zumba exercise session between the hours of 1:30 and 3 p.m.
