Polk State College is celebrating a 3.7% increase in enrollment for the Fall 2024 Semester compared to this time last year, and enrollment is still taking place for eight-week classes that will start on October 9.

This increase in total headcount brings Polk State’s enrollment to more than 11,000 students for the fall semester, with the College serving approximately 23,000 students a year across its degree and workforce training programs.

Polk State is celebrating 60 years and has expanded from one campus to seven locations. As Polk County’s largest serving institution of higher education and workforce training, the College is expanding its reach with the development of the Polk State Haines City-Davenport Campus.

This campus will bring affordable, quality higher education closer to home for thousands of residents. It will house Central Florida’s first public higher education interdisciplinary simulation hospital as well as the majority of Polk State’s highly reputable Health Sciences programs. The campus will also offer courses in Hospitality and Tourism Management, Supply Chain and Logistics, Teacher Education, and the Associate in Arts degree program.

“The growth in our student population further solidifies the need for our Polk State Haines City-Davenport Campus and the continued accessibility to quality higher education and workforce training for our community,” Polk State President Dr. Angela Garcia Falconetti said.

Ninety percent of Polk State students have Polk County ZIP codes and 70% of the College’s students remain in Polk County after graduation, serving as highly skilled professionals in healthcare, public safety, business, education, and more.

“With Polk State boasting some of the highest employment and continuing education rates in the Florida College System, our College is proud to offer world-class education right here in Polk County, producing successful graduates who contribute directly to the economic development of our community,” Garcia Falconetti said.
