Title IX Training
TITLE IX FOR HIGHER EDUCATION COURSE DESCRIPTION
Every educational institution strives to create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for its students. Equity is a fundamental principle of progressive culture in higher education. Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 stands as a landmark civil rights law that prohibits discrimination in education programs and activities that receive federal funding. This legislation outlines the rights and protections for students.
The following information is provided in accordance with 34 C.F.R. § 106.45(b)(10)(i)(D), which mandates that a recipient must maintain records of all materials used to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any individual who facilitates an informal resolution process for a period of seven years. Polk State utilize training materials from the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) and Grand River Solutions. The compliance team completed the following trainings and certifications (individual completion varies; Title IX Coordinator completed all).

Title IX Sexual Misconduct and Prevention Training is mandatory for all student athletes and student club/ organization leaders at Polk State College. This training aims to cultivate a culture of dignity, respect, and tolerance among students and staff at Polk State College. The Title IX training is a modular course available in Canvas that addresses our zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct. All students have the opportunity to participate in the training by submitting a request to the Title IX Coordinator.
NOTE: Ongoing training is also provided by NEOGOV which is the platform that holds the course context. The training is required to be taken by all full-time and part-time employees.
