The Quality Enhancement Plan at Polk State College includes two areas of focus:
- Learner-centered teaching
Learner-centered teaching intentionally and purposefully creates an environment that engages students as active partners in their own learning processes through meaningful interaction with course content, the professor, and each other. It presents opportunities for learners to take responsibility for their own learning with the goal of becoming self-directed, life-long learners.
- Supportive learning environment
A supportive learning environment refers to an atmosphere designed to be encouraging and conducive to learning both in the classroom and throughout the College. Faculty are accessible to students and are engaged with other areas of the College such as the library, Teaching/Learning Computing Center, academic advising, and counseling as partners in student learning.
