Polk State College has welcomed Dr. Julie Alexander as Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Workforce Development. Dr. Alexander brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in education to the College with over 22 years of experience in state and institutional leadership roles.
Dr. Alexander served as Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs for the Florida College System, where she led policy-to-practice efforts in areas such as developmental education reform, gateway course redesign, community college baccalaureate degrees, articulation and seamless transfer, and dual enrollment.
More recently, as the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Miami Dade College, Dr. Alexander managed a large, complex academic support ecosystem including day-to-day operations, college-wide student success implementation, and academic continuity during crisis situations, including hurricane and pandemic recovery.
“I am very pleased to have Dr. Alexander join Polk State’s leadership team. She brings leadership proficiency in academic affairs and a proven track record of improved student retention, completion, and overall success,” said Dr. Angela Garcia Falconetti, President of Polk State College.
Dr. Alexander received an Ed.D. in Higher Education from Florida State University, a Master of Education from the University of West Florida, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas.
