Florida Nursing Student Association (FNSA)

Polk State College’s Florida Nursing Student Association Chapter has received numerous awards and recognitions at both the state and national levels over the past 20 years. Polk State’s FNSA Chapter has won the prestigious title of “Chapter of the Year” four times in the past few years. 

The FNSA focuses on promoting leadership development, mentoring, and community outreach, as well as enhancing professional education among future nurses. A student is eligible to join after completing nine hours of prerequisite courses. The faculty advisors are Professor Amy Eaton (aeaton@polk.edu) and Professor Michelle Bissessar (mbissessar@polk.edu).

Alpha Delta Nu: Alpha Eta Chapter

Alpha Delta Nu is a national honor society for associate-level nursing students. To be eligible for consideration for membership, a student must have successfully completed NUR 1254C Nursing Care of the Adult Patient (Nursing 2) within the Generic Option, or NUR 1051 Health Professional to RN: Transition I of the Transition Option. Membership requires an overall GPA of 3.0 and a grade of B or better in all Nursing Program courses during the first enrollment. Prospective members must also demonstrate behaviors that reflect integrity and professionalism. Any interested student should contact the faculty advisor, Professor Jerri Palmer (jpalmer@polk.edu).
