Polk State International Photo Contest Accepting Entries Through Oct. 3

Traveled the world and have interesting photographs to show for it? Enter the Polk State College Institute for Global Initiatives‘ “Capturing Cultures” photo contest.

The deadline to enter is Oct. 3. Polk State students and employees, as well as members of the community, are invited to participate.

Entries will be accepted in categories such as Everyday Life and Fashion. For more information on categories, email photocontest@polk.edu.

Photographers may submit their work by emailing up to five high-resolution images, including titles and short descriptive statements about each photo (30-50 words), as well as their contact information, to photocontest@polk.edu.

Photographers may also choose to mail a CD of their entries, also including titles, descriptions and their contact information, to the Polk State Lake Wales Arts Center, 1099 State Road 60 East, Lake Wales, Fla., 33853.

There is no entry fee for Polk State students and employees who enter before 5 p.m. on Sept 19. After that deadline, and for any others who wish to participate, the entry cost is $10 per image.

The College’s Visual Arts department will judge the entries. Selected images will be exhibited at the Polk State Lake Wales Arts Center from Nov. 3-10.

A reception for the exhibit will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 at the Polk State Lake Wales Arts Center. RSVP at 863.298.6883.
