Educator Preparation Institute (EPI)
The grant will be used to increase the capacity of PCC’s
undergraduate program designed to produce more teachers in the
county. The Educator Preparation Institute is an accelerated
training program that educates newly hired teachers who did not
major in education. EPI allows college graduates with bachelor’s
degrees to become qualified teachers in less time than is required
for a traditional education degree.
State funds will be used to expand PCC’s EPI program from its
current enrollment of 150 participants to over 200 participants
during the 2007-2008 school year. PCC’s EPI program is one of the
largest in the state. Funds will be used for items that will
directly affect students, including personnel, professional
development, scholarships and instructional equipment.
