Community College’s
Kenneth C. Thompson Institute of Public Safety will hold Law
Enforcement Academy graduation on Feb. 22 at 7 pm in the Fine Arts
Theatre, Winter Haven campus. Some 27 students will graduate from
Basic Recruit Training. Congressman Adam H. Putnam, who represents
the 12th Congressional District of Florida, will address the

Now in his fourth
term, Congressman Putnam is Chairman of the Republican Conference
and serves on the Capital Markets, Insurance and Government
Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee of the House Financial Services
Committee.
As
Chairman of the House Republican Conference, Putnam is third in
line in the House Republican leadership. The Conference Chairman
is charged with articulating his party’s message, and he is
working with his colleagues to build a bold, innovative agenda for
America’s future. The House Financial Services Committee oversees
the nation's financial services and housing sectors including
banking, insurance, real estate, public and assisted housing and
securities.
Congressman Putnam is a native of Bartow and a fifth generation
Floridian. The University of Florida graduate worked in his
family's citrus and cattle business before running for elected
office. From 1996 to 2000, he served in the Florida House. He was
elected to Congress in 2000. The congressman and his wife reside
in Bartow with their four children.
Most
of Polk County’s city and county law enforcement officers,
corrections and correctional probation officers were trained at
PCC. Officers are trained to deliver the highest quality services
to all citizens. This is accomplished through a partnership
between the Institute of Public Safety, Florida Criminal Justice
Standards and Training Commission, Florida Department of Law
Enforcement, local, regional and state agencies. |
