Maryly Peck- PCC’s Second President- Selected To FL Women's Hall of Fame

01/24/2007: Dr. Maryly Van Leer Peck, former president of Polk Community College, is amonMaryly VanLeer Peck- Photo 1998g three women selected by Gov. Charlie Crist today (Jan. 24) to be members of the Florida Women's Hall of Fame.

Dr. Peck, PCC’s second president, was born to a family of engineers and earned three degrees in that field from Vanderbilt University and the University of Florida. While in Guam as a missionary for 11 years, she ran a preparatory school and was Dean of the College of Business and Applied Technology at the University of Guam.

In 1982, she became the first female president of a Florida community college. She retired from PCC in 1997. Under her leadership, PCC built a campus in Lakeland, grew the Polk Community College Foundation and established many AS programs.
