Two PCC Honor Society Students And A Faculty Advisor Receive PTK
Awards
PTK Inducts 97 PCC Students

Three members of
Polk Community College’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society
won awards at the recent Phi Theta Kappa regional convention.
Winning were:

Tiffany Foskey
of Lakeland for Best Essay - plaque and $100 prize
·
Chelo
VanLeeuwaarde
of Winter Haven for Best in Art.
·
Professor Penny Morris
was chosen Advisor of
the Year.
PCC’s chapter
campaigned and won the office of Leadership, which means the PCC
students will assist the Alumni Chapter in hosting the Leadership
conference in September 2007. The chapter will also present a
workshop in November 2007 on the Leadership Hallmark at the next
Regional Convention. This will be a one-hour workshop that
emphasizes the aspects of Leadership that would be relevant to Phi
Theta Kappa members and officers.
“I was very impressed with our chapter,” said Penny
Morris. “They made me very proud to be their advisor with their
commitment and mature and professional demeanor.”
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is limited to students
who have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and
have accumulated at least 12 college level credits at PCC. PTK
offers leadership and service opportunities for members and
non-members. |
