92.5% of
PCC Nursing Grads Pass Their National Licensure Exam

01/28/2008: Polk
Community College’s
nursing students had great results on their licensure exam,
known as the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered
Nurses (NCLEX). PCC, which had a passing rating of 92.5 percent,
exceeded the state average of 83.2 percent and the national
average of 85.5 percent.
PCC’s students have had an outstanding passing rate on this exam,
which is taken by all graduates in all professional nursing
programs in the US. Since the beginning of the program in 1965,
PCC’s pass rate on the NCLEX has consistently been between 90 to
100 percent.
“These results represent the efforts of dedicated students willing
to do the class and clinical work necessary to achieve this level
of performance,” said Annette Hutcherson, Director of the Nursing
Department. “We have a superb faculty and staff who are willing to
go the extra mile to help students in their efforts. We also have
excellent clinical facilities in the area which support the
students and the Department of Nursing financially and
professionally.”
PCC’s
Department of Nursing has earned a statewide reputation for
excellence. Its high standards have contributed well-prepared
graduates for the community. Over 60 percent of the Registered
Nurses practicing in Polk County were educated at PCC.
