PCC Music Students are Selected
To be on the Intercollegiate Honor Choir
11/01/2006: Eight
Polk Community College music majors have been chosen to be members
of the Intercollegiate Honor Choir at the Florida Conference of
the American Choral Director's Association to be held at Rollins
College Nov. 2-4.
The students are: Nicholas Folkes of Lakeland,
Gayle Gelman of Lakeland, Lesley Ives of Winter Haven,
Jason Kuntz of Davenport, Monica Molina of Lakeland,
Sheena Orta of Davenport, Brandy Schwarting of Lakeland
and Thomas Wright of Lakeland.
These students are all
second year music majors who are studying voice privately and are
actively involved in the PCC Concert Choir and Vocal Ensemble.
They will be performing in a concert choir made up of 2006’s best
of the best from Florida colleges and universities.
The American Choral
Director's Association is recognized nationally as the leading
scholarly organization focused specifically on choral music. “This
is the first time that anyone from PCC has been selected to be a
part of this group and we are very proud to have these students
represent us.” said John Anderson, PCC Music Department
Coordinator.
