PCC PRESIDENT EILEEN HOLDEN
IS INAUGURATED AT THE CONCLUSION
OF A DAY OF CELEBRATIONS

09/12/07: Dr. Eileen Holden was officially inaugurated as PCC’s fourth president during ceremonies held Sept. 7 on the Lakeland campus.

The inauguration ceremony and reception concluded a full day of festivities, which included breakfast at Historic Bok Sanctuary in Lake Wales, and a luncheon on PCC’s Winter Haven campus.

Dr. Neriah Roberts, Chair of PCC’s District Board of Trustees, places the Presidential Medallion around Dr. Eileen Holden’s neck during her Inauguration.

The day of events provided an opportunity for faculty, staff, alumni, college stakeholders, and the community to support PCC students by the establishment of three scholarships: the Dr. Eileen Holden Endowed Scholarship, the Greater Lake Wales Scholarship Initiative and the Distinguished Alumni Endowed Scholarship.

At the inauguration, it was announced that $205,000 was raised to fund these scholarships. This is a record breaking fund raising for PCC.

The Inauguration Committee was co-chaired by PCC Trustee Twyla G. Ely and Foundation Director Tracy Porter. They said they were committed to hosting events that was reflective of Dr. Holden’s personality and inclusive leadership style. Chair of the Lake Wales event was Cindy Alexander. Chair of the Winter Haven event was Sam Killebrew. Chair of the Lakeland event was Jim Rhodes.

Dr. Holden said she and the Inauguration Committee were passionate about using this occasion to raise funds to establish endowed scholarships that will benefit PCC students in perpetuity. “It is truly an honor to serve as the fourth president of PCC,” she said. “I am thrilled that members of our community celebrated with us through their participation and presence at today’s events.”
