PCC Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser Celebrates Its 15th Year

01/26/2007: Polk Community College baseball players will score. Not because of their batting and fielding skills, but the result of skillful drives and putts made by area business leaders participating on Feb. 5 in the Wachovia/PCC Foundation Golf Tournament sponsored by MidAmerica.

            This is the 15th anniversary of this fundraiser, which benefits PCC’s Baseball Team, will be held at Lone Palm Country Club. Approximately $300,000 has been raised by the event during the past 15 years.

The Title Sponsor is Wachovia and Presenting Sponsor is MidAmerica Administrative and Retirement Solutions, Inc. Each of these corporations contributed $5,000 to the PCC Foundation. PCC was MidAmerica’s first client 15 years ago and now has thousands of clients. Bob Georges, who was the original Chair in 1992 is chairing the event this year.

“The PCC Foundation is extremely appreciative of the community’s generous support,” said Tracy Porter, Associate Vice President for Development and Executive Director of the Foundation. “Corporate and community leaders have embraced this golf tournament for 15 years, and its ongoing success is a testament to everyone’s belief in the Baseball Team, as well as the College as a whole.”  

Evidence of the success of this event is the fact that in mid-January it sold out for Corporate Sponsors. Other sponsorships are still available.
