PCC’s Nursing Student Association is Named Florida Chapter of the
Year

Community College chapter
of the Florida Nursing
Students Association was recently named “Chapter of the Year”
at the association’s annual convention held in Orlando. This is
the first time PCC’s Nursing students have earned top honors from
the organization.
The PCC
chapter also received other awards in several categories. The
chapter received a first-place plaque for a Community Outreach
project led by Carrie Huffstickler and Sarah Malek,
both from Lakeland. PCC’s Healthy Heart Education project won
another first-place plaque.
The PCC
chapter won a second-place certificate for a Nursing 1 project
created by Winter Haven students Marjorie Figueroa,
Amanda Rohrbaugh, Schevon Pierre, Susanna Albright, Sarah Linck
and Lakeland students, Amanda Richardson and Cheryl
Heatherington.
In the
Academic Challenge competition, PCC team members David Barrett
and Alysha Schnepp from Winter Haven and Amy Lash
and Jeanne Smith from Lakeland won fourth place.
In addition,
Nursing 1 student Sarah Linck won both an Honorable Mention
certificate for her commitment to Children’s Vision Screening and
a scholarship.
Carrie
Huffstickler and Jennifer Richardet (both from
Lakeland) and Linck served on the Executive Board as State
Officers at Convention. Linck and Richardet were
elected as FNSA State officers for next year.
PCC's FNSA
Chapter received certificates for being a Convention Host School,
for ranking in the top five schools for scholarship fundraising
and for participation in Children's Vision Screening.
Toni
Linck received the faculty award for her continued commitment
to CAPS (Children's Vision Screening). She was also recognized as
a FNSA State Consultant.
Dr.
Annette Hutcherson received Honorable Mention in the
Dean/Director of the Year category. The FNSA Officers presented
her with roses and a certificate of recognition. |
