PCC Enrollment Increases 6 Percent
01/19/2007: Polk
Community College’s spring registration recently ended and
enrollment is up 6.3 percent from last year. PCC’s total credit
enrollment (after Late Registration) is 6,816. Last year
at
this same point
enrollment was 6,411. That’s a six percent increase.
PCC
President Eileen Holden was very pleased with this news. “Although
enrollment trends are difficult to predict, I believe that the
increase we are experiencing this term is due in part to the
efforts of our dedicated Student Services staff as well as our
enhanced marketing efforts,” she said.
“We made personal calls to students, sent postcards, advertised in
local media, offered weekend and online assistance, and utilized
other recruitment and retention efforts to get our message out
about the importance of education. Our academic affairs deans
responded to student needs with increased course offerings and
convenient times and days. It was a collaborative effort by all
PCC employees that we will continue to do.”
Polk Community College students pay the lowest per credit hour
cost of any college in the county and they receive an excellent
education. Classes are much smaller than in universities and PCC’s
faculty and staff are dedicated to student success.
There are two tracks students can take:
• Associate in Arts degree (AA) which transfers to a four-year
university working on a bachelor’s degree.
• Associate in Science degree (AS)- Students learn the skills
necessary for immediate employment in a high wage career in
technology or health care fields. |
