New VP & Chief Financial Officer Named

01/12/2007: Polk Community College has named Peter Elliott to be Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He comes to PCC from Ft. Lauderdale where he served as Chief Financial Officer for B&B Systems, Inc. for the past year. Prior to that, he spent ten years as Associate Vice President for Financial Operations at Broward Community College. Elliott, a CPA, also has 11 years experience as Senior Public Accounts Auditor with the Florida Auditor General’s Office.   

            He received his Associate’s degree from Santa Fe Community College (in 1981) a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (in 1983) and a Master’s degree in Accounting (in 1985) both from Florida State University.

            He has the unique career experience of working in the private sector at a Florida community college and as a State Auditor. Elliott has designed and evaluated internal administrative and accounting controls and regulatory compliance procedures for federal, state and local programs. He also has reviewed major administrative areas of college and university operations. Elliott also served as an adjunct instructor at BCC.

            He and his wife, Kathryn, have two children: Alexandra, 13, and Andrew, 9. Elliott is active in his church and is a Cub Scout Pack Leader. His hobbies include golf and sailing.
