08/28/2002: The talents of Polk Community College’s art students are showcased
in some 340 pieces of art exhibited in the Fine Arts Gallery this month.
This work comprises the 2002 Student Art Show and Competition. Visitors to
the show will agree with the show’s judge Dr. James Rogers, Chairman of
the Art Department at Florida Southern College, who feels the show features
high quality artwork.
Best of Show was awarded to Lauren Stewart of Winter Haven for
her pencil rendering entitled “Pondering.”
Winning multiple awards in more than one category were:

Franklyn Avilan, who received the Best of Mixed Media
award and two Awards of Merit.

Sandra Guerra of Winter Haven, who won a Judge’s
Choice Award and an Award of Merit
·
Wanda Tidwell, who collected both a Judge’s Choice
Award and an Award of Merit.
The student art show will be on display through April 26 in the
Fine Arts Gallery on the Winter Haven campus. The winners are:
